What this site is
Most itinerary templates online are either locked behind an email form or so generic they are useless. Most destination itineraries are lists of attractions with no sense of how long anything takes. This site exists to fix both: structured templates you can actually fill in, and destination plans written the way a careful traveller would write them for a friend.
Everything is downloadable as a CSV for Excel or Google Sheets plus a plain-text version for printing. Nothing requires an account.
How the content is made
Each destination plan starts from a route that works logistically: how many bases, how far apart they are, and what the transport between them realistically costs in time. Timings come from published transport schedules and operator information, then are padded for the parts of travel that schedules ignore — queues, meals, getting lost. Budgets are built from category-level costs rather than copied averages.
Guides are structured around the decisions travellers actually have to make, and deliberately stop short of claiming authority on rules that change. Where a fact has a legal or medical consequence, we point to the official source.
Editorial principles
Realistic over impressive
A plan with eleven stops a day looks great on a page and fails by 2pm. Our itineraries assume one committed activity per half-day, real transit times, and at least one unscheduled window.
Assumptions stated
Budget figures are per person, per day, and we say what they include. Where a number depends on season or travel style, we give a range instead of a single misleading figure.
Official sources for anything that changes
Visa rules, entry requirements and health advice change frequently and vary by nationality. We describe how the systems work and send you to the relevant government source rather than pretending a static page can be authoritative.
Corrections, not silence
If something on the site is wrong or out of date, tell us and we'll fix it. Content is reviewed when a reader flags an issue and on a periodic sweep.
How the site is funded
Free Travel Itinerary is free to use and funded by affiliate links to booking, insurance and gear providers, and in future by display advertising. If you book through one of our links we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
