Who writes this site

Free Travel Itinerary is an independent, small editorial team of frequent travellers. Every itinerary, template and guide on the site is written in-house and published under the site's own name. We do not accept guest posts, we do not republish syndicated articles, and we do not publish machine-generated filler as finished content.

How itineraries are researched

A destination plan starts with the geography: what can realistically be seen in a day without spending it in transit. We then check each stop against primary sources — official site and museum pages, national tourist boards, and public transport operators — and describe the historical background from established reference material rather than marketing copy.

• Routes are ordered so that days cluster geographically instead of criss-crossing a city.
• Opening patterns, closing days and booking requirements are checked at the operator's own site.
• Costs are given as honest ranges, never as precise prices we cannot guarantee.

What we will not do

Trust breaks the moment a reader catches an invented detail. So we do not publish fabricated statistics, invented reviews or testimonials, fake author credentials, or claims we cannot trace to a source. If we are not confident about a detail, we either verify it or leave it out.

• No invented prices, ratings, awards or visitor numbers.
• No pretending to have visited somewhere on your behalf.
• No scraped or copied text from other travel publishers.

Advertising and affiliate links are separate from editorial

The site is free because of display advertising and affiliate commissions. Neither buys placement or wording. Advertisers have no input into which destinations we cover, what we say about them, or where a page ranks in our own lists. Affiliate blocks are labelled, outbound affiliate links are tagged as sponsored, and the full arrangement is set out in our disclosure page.

Corrections

Travel details change constantly: a museum closes for renovation, a bus route is renumbered, a visa rule is introduced. When a reader reports an error we verify it against a primary source and update the page, usually within a few days. Email hello@freetravelitinerary.com with the page and the detail and we will look at it.

Review and update cycle

Destination itineraries are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to the pages readers use most and to any page where a rule, price band or transport link is likely to have changed. Guides covering fast-moving topics — entry requirements, connectivity, booking timing — are checked more often than evergreen packing advice.

Independence and use of AI tools

We use software for drafting support, spelling and structure in the same way any newsroom uses editing tools, but every published page is directed, fact-checked and edited by a person before it goes live. Responsibility for what appears on the site rests with us, not with a tool.
